The History of Highland House:

Highland House was built in 1790 by Captain John Evans. It was a large farm on Lot #1 of the original seven lots granted by royal charter of the Governor of Massachusetts to the founders of Fryeburg.  Originally a center chimney Cape, the house was situated immediately beside the New Suncook Road, the original road connecting Fryeburn an New Suncook (later renamed Lovell).
